Born in Glasgow in 1947, Philip Raskin has graced numerous exhibitions around the globe with his presence.

Philip honed his artistic skills at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1960s, although the untimely death of his father stalled the completion of his course.

For twenty years, he worked as a restaurant proprietor before taking up the mantle of a full-time artist. His art bears his unique touch that helps fans instantly recognise his work, and his name is mentioned in several publications.

Philip Raskin's stunning artwork can be seen at White Wall Galleries. Speaking about his work, he says: "I tend to paint very private places for the viewer to own and enjoy; no people, no houses, no telegraph poles."

His paintings capture the essence of solitude, "Just the driftwood of an ebb tide, mist tumbling on a distant hilltop and silence broken only by lapping water and gulls ascending."

How Philip Raskin helped guide Natasha's career

Nestled between two siblings, Natasha and her entire family nurtured an appreciation for art throughout their lives.

Natasha, who was born in 1986, started her career at McTear's auction house and initially sold artwork from her father. This ultimately paved the way for her TV appearances.

Following in her father's footsteps, she chose to specialise in Scottish contemporary art. The savvy expert graced multiple TV shows on BBC, including Antiques Road Trip, Flog It! and gameshow For What It's Worth.

Her academic journey began with studying law at university before a switch to History of Art caught her interest.

She also dabbled in other roles such as working in a fashion house and playing a part in Barack Obama's primary elections in 2008 in New Hampshire.

Before falling head over heels with the auction industry, she ran an art supply business alongside her beloved father.

Speaking on why she chose a career in antiques, she said: "I was gently nudged in the direction of the antiques trade and auction houses by my dad, who thought that I'd be well-suited to the environment."

"Although I'd never normally admit it, he was absolutely right."

The art lover did say she may follow in her father's footsteps in the catering business at some stage.

She added: "My plan was always to follow in my parents' footsteps and open a restaurant."

"If I'm honest, I'm not ruling it out as a sideline...there's nothing quite like catering to keep you on your toes."

In respect to her future endeavours, she expressed a willingness to delve into the catering world, following her father's footsteps yet again.

Expounding upon this passion, she explained: "My plan was always to follow in my parents' footsteps and open a restaurant."

"I can't say I'm entirely dismissing it as a sideline...navigating the catering industry certainly keeps you on your toes," she added.
