Five charged over suspected murder in Jordan

Three women and two men have been arrested over the suspected murder of a 33-year-old man in Jordan, police said on Monday. The man was found unconscious on Pilkem Street on Sunday morning and was later declared dead after being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police said they think the alleged attack, which happened after the man left a suspected illegal gambling den at around 2am, could have been linked to a personal dispute. Assistant District Commander Ching Chi-yan said the force suspects the victim was struck multiple times about the head with a hammer, adding that cracks were found in the back of the man's skull. A man, 40, and a woman, 32, were arrested on suspicion of murder. Two other women and a man, aged between 34 and 56, were suspected of assisting an offender.
