BBC Olympics viewers left 'disappointed' over gymnastics as they issue same complaint
BBC viewers who tuned into BBC One on Sunday morning were left reeling over the gymnastics coverage, branding it "bland" and "disappointing" as they could not watch all of Team GB compete in the sport. The BBC is no longer the Olympic Games' primary broadcaster, meaning no more than 250 hours of live coverage can be streamed compared to Discovery+ which is able to air 3,800 hours.
Taking to Twitter while watching the gymnastics qualifying rounds, one viewer asked: "So disappointing not to be able to see all Team GB gymnasts competing because, according to the presenters, BBC coverage has 'no control over the pictures'. Why can't they have their own camera crews there?"
A disgruntled Yvonne fumed: "BBC coverage of the #Olympics is awful, glad I signed up to discovery+ shame it came to this. What is the licence fee actually for... Definitely reconsidering that?"
A third wrote: "The Olympics selling their rights is so frustrating because the whiplash the BBC are giving me jumping from sport to sport because they can only show 2 streams at a time??? You're settled watching gymnastics then BOOM, you're rowing."

Most of the gymnastics was aired on BBC iPlayer (Image: Getty)However, other viewers seemed thrilled with the BBC's coverage, with one person writing: "BBC decent start to their live Sunday coverage of the #Olympics Gymnastics on 1, Badminton, beach volleyball on iPlayer. Then some Rowing on Eurosport. Gonna be a good day."
A fan who moved over to BBC iPlayer to watch all of the gymnasts take to the arena which was packed with fans, families and famous faces like Ariana Grande, said: "The floor routines sound so good. I wish BBC was showing it #olympics."
While BBC One aired some of legendary US gymnast Simone Biles' comeback after dropping out of the Tokyo Olympics after suffering from what those in the sport call 'the twisties', the rest of her routines were only available on BBC iPlayer.

BBC One presenter JJ Chambers had to tell viewers to switch over to BBC iPlayer to watch the artistic gymnastics women's qualification after some of the beam routines were aired.
Simone, who took to the floor with a taped ankle, scored an impressive 14.600 for her routine.
The 27-year-old carried out a triple-twisting, double somersault - better known as the Biles II - as part of her routine.
Paris Olympics coverage is being streamed on BBC One and BBC iPlayer until August 11.
