EastEnders' Reiss caught out as Debbie's parents make shock discovery after tragic death
EastEnders' character Reiss Colwell is set to be exposed next week, according to the latest soap spoilers.
The accountant, played by Johnny Freeman, has been grappling with financial stress in recent episodes. Viewers will remember that Reiss is married to Debbie, who was left in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke in the bath.
Initially, Reiss was using Debbie's money to fund his and partner Sonia's (Natalie Cassidy) IVF treatment. However, as Debbie's care home bills began to pile up, Reiss resorted to drastic measures and started defrauding Sharon (Letitia Dean).
But on Wednesday's visit to the Square (July 24), events took a sinister turn when Reiss paid a visit to Debbie in the care home. In tense scenes, Reiss stood up, moved a pillow from behind Debbie's head and kissed her forehead.
He then wept and looked down at Debbie as he suffocated her. And in Thursday's episode (July 25), it was confirmed that Debbie had died, leaving Reiss overwhelmed with emotion - but able to hide his guilt.

However, next week's episodes will see a dramatic twist when Debbie's parents arrive seeking answers.
In the episode airing on Monday (July 29), the police inform Reiss that Debbie's post-mortem is complete and he can visit her while awaiting the results.
Meanwhile, back in the Square, Phil confronts Reiss demanding a return on his 'investment', with Sonia observing from a distance. Later, Sonia questions Reiss about his encounter with Phil, which he tries to downplay.

However, under pressure, he confesses to stealing from Phil. Despite her shock, Sonia accompanies Reiss to visit Debbie, where they run into Debbie's parents Brenda and Hugh as they are leaving.
The situation becomes tense when Brenda begins asking probing questions. Sonia offers her condolences to Debbie's parents, who don't recognise her.
Sonia is taken aback when Reiss introduces her as his landlady, hiding the truth about their relationship, but she plays along. They then head to No. 25 for refreshments.
After convincing Sonia why he hasn't revealed their relationship to Brenda and Hugh, they are caught kissing by Brenda, forcing Reiss to admit the truth. Later, Brenda and Hugh overhear Sharon and Teddy discussing Reiss and are shocked by what they learn.
