DAB to celebrate 75th anniversary of founding of PRC

The DAB says it will organise a series of events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, including screening patriotic movies and offering free Chinese medicine services. A photography competition will enable participants to express how they “love and treasure our home and country” through their work. The winning entries will be showcased in an exhibition. The party will also host various technology-related exhibitions in shopping malls across Hong Kong, including one showcasing China-produced electric cars. There will also be a poster design competition for secondary students with the theme of “showcasing China's achievements.” “We will utilise our district network advantage to organise the events,” the party’s chairman Gary Chan said. “We hope every district in Hong Kong can feel the celebratory atmosphere of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.” The DAB said it will also hold a short video contest to gather tourism ideas that show "the other side of Hong Kong". Chan said the contest is not just a celebratory event, but also a response to the concept of “tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong" as expressed by the director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, Xia Baolong. The lawmaker said he believes Hong Kong locals are best positioned to identify unique tourism spots within the city.
