Man, 82, found dead in river with murder investigation launched
A murder investigation has been launched after an elderly man was found dead in a river in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
The body of the man, 82, was found in a stretch of the River Don by Mexborough this morning.
Emergency services attended but the man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men, aged 30 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody, police said this afternoon.
The body was reportedly discovered at the edge of the river between the Dearne Valley Leisure Centre and McDonald’s on Doncaster Road, near the village of Denaby Main, locals told YappApp.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward, said: ‘We are now treating this investigation into this man’s death as a murder investigation.
‘Although we are in the very early stages, we have a team of detectives working hard to try and establish the circumstances around what happened earlier this morning.’
The River Don, also called the River Dun, stretches some 69 miles through Yorkshire.
