Escape to the Country: House hunters overwhelmed by property

Escape to the Country left one couple utterly moved as presenter Nicki Chapman swiftly uncovered their idyllic abode during the latest BBC episode.

Returning to our televisions, Nicki was on a mission to assist Matt and Lizzya retired wine merchant and former primary school teacher from Epsom, Surreyin discovering their perfect pastoral retreat in the breathtaking landscapes of Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

On discussing their heartfelt desire for relocation, Matt expressed his decades-long passion for Scotland: "When I first went to Scotland in about 1970 I just fell in love with the place and I think it is the most admirable country. I love the people, I love the psychology of the people up there."

Lizzy chimed in with her own enchantment by Scotland's untamed beauty, saying: "You know, it is beautifully wild. The nature there is astounding and it's really a gem that we're longing to explore."

The duo, equipped with a generous £600,000 budget, had clear visions for their dream domicilea detached residence boasting at least three bedrooms, a space allocated for Lizzy's craft ventures, a kitchen-diner setting and possibly a conservatory. However, capturing the essence of coastal views stood atop their list of priorities, reports Wales Online.

Nicki arranged several property viewings, and the hunt began on a high note as the couple instantly fell for the first house located in Cowell Peninsula, Argyll, just minutes into their search.

The detached home, a mere five-minute drive from the local town centre, boasted stunning mountain views.

As they approached the house, Matt exclaimed: "Wow that's amazing."

Nicki responded: "So through the gate, and welcome to potentially your new home." Lizzy was equally impressed, commenting: "Oh it is fabulous. The roof and the little archway."

Matt turned to Nicki and said: "Doesn't it look gorgeous. Yep we'll take it."

Nicki then joked: "OK job done. Right, that's it. This does look incredible, I mean just standing here the birds are all out, just for the two of you and then if you look over your shoulder behind you and then you've got all that view."

Matt agreed: "Well we asked for a view and that is a magnificent one."

Lizzy, struggling to contain her emotions, added: "Oh I'm struggling to control my emotions. I think it is just so lovely."

Lizzy guessed that the property was listed for over £600,000, while Matt estimated it to be over £535,000.

The couple were stunned when Nicki revealed that the property was actually on the market for £399,000. Lizzy reacted: "You're joking, that is unbelievable."

Matt chimed in: "Where is my check book? ".

The couple eventually made an offer on the house, which was accepted. However, the seller pulled out of the deal soon after, forcing them to restart their search for the perfect home.
