Air-conditioners arrive in Paris for SAR Olympians

The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) on Tuesday said 45 air-conditioners had been delivered to the Olympic village in Paris for SAR athletes. The SF&OC said the move was made after coordination by the SAR government and the liaison office, as well as communication with the organising committee of the Paris Olympics. The Hong Kong, China delegation is one of several that that decided to install air conditioners at the athletes' rooms, despite claims by the Paris organisers that a geothermal cooling system would keep temperatures at the newly-built village reasonable. Separately, the government announced that cultural and sports minister Kevin Yeung will fly to Paris on Thursday to attend events at the Games and cheer for Hong Kong athletes. During his stay, Yeung will meet with the SAR delegation in the Olympic village and watch competitions featuring Hong Kong athletes. Yeung will return to Hong Kong on July 31.
