Best Dynasty Schools To Rebuild In EA Sports College Football 25

EA Sports College Football 25 has arrived, and fans are already knee-deep in nostalgia as they get their hands on simulation NCAA football for the first time in over a decade. While there's plenty of content to offer, Dynasty mode is the first stop for many as they look to rise the ranks and build a powerhouse school to rival coaches like Nick Saban and Bobby Bowden.

While it is understandable to want to do this with pre-established teams, sometimes the most interesting path is also the most challenging. From complete underdogs to teams that should be returned to their former glory, these are our best schools to rebuild in EA Sports College Football 25. Be sure to also check out our recommendations for which coach backstory to pick and how to do all of the game's celebrations.

Appalachian State

Appalachian State is the essence of an underdog. Before they even moved from the FCS (Division I-AA) to the FBS (Division I-A) in 2014, they were already used to taking down juggernauts, like powerhouse Michigan, whom they beat at Ann Arbor in 2007.

The Mountaineers are definitely more of an offensive-focused team in EA Sports College Football 25. Of their top 10 players, only two of them are from the defensive side of the ball. Thankfully, offensive shootouts are common in EA Sports College Football 25. This means you can get wins with a good offense in the short term to recruit better defensive players in the long term to help battle top 10 teams.

Ball State

Do you enjoy a good challenge? Then look no further than Ball State, the worst-rated team in Sports College Football 25.

This three-star rated team needs serious work, as its best overall player is a senior left guard with an overall rating of 83. There is some potential to be found in its freshman quarterback: He's a 5'11" scrambler named Kadin Semonza and has the fourth-highest overall rating of 76, just one point below the starting junior.

Even in the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC), you will need to plan your schedule and recruit accordingly to grow Ball State into a contender.

Boise State

Boise State has likely seen the most success over the past decade of all the schools on this list. Ever since going 14-0 back in 2009, the Broncos have dominated the Mountain West conference, winning six times.

Despite this success, Boise State still hasn't returned to the top-25 consistency it became known for after being after going undefeated. Returning them to glory in EA Sports College Football 25 will start via their star junior in the backfield.

Halfback Ashton Jeanty is one of the best receiving backs in the game, featuring the Safety Valve, Sidekick, and Takeoff perks that make him a quarterback's best friend. Using these alongside his consistent movement stats, each between 89-94 overall, recruits will fall over themselves to come to Boise.

Hawai'i

The Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors deserve to be rebuilt for their name and intense tribal war dance celebrations alone. Despite being around for over 115 years, the team has yet to accomplish much.

Their last notable season ended in a 41-10 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. While the previous two seasons have been disappointing, finishing fifth in the division both times, the squad does have some studs on offense.

Just let QB Brayden Schager's 93 overall arm throw it up the speedy deep threat of WR Steven McBride, and you've got something to build on. Do the school a favor and build up some NFL-worthy players so that their legacy no longer has to be the school from which Colt Brennan was drafted.

Kennesaw State

"You don't give a hoot? Kennesaw State does!" Hearing Kirk Herbstreit yell this every time you score a touchdown with the Owls is reason enough to want to build this underdog Georgia-based school into a powerhouse.

Alongside a great celebration, Kennesaw State also has a good foundation upon which to build. The roster is solid, especially its offense, which is built for speed. This includes four wide receivers with speed over 90 and a running back with 94 acceleration.

In the long term, it also doesn't hurt to have a team in the Georgia pipeline, as proximity to home plays a huge role in getting the best players, who also tend to live around that area. The only obvious downside is competing with other prominent schools, but taking down Goliath is part of the fun.

Marshall

If you're a big Mathew McConaughey fan, the Marshall Thundering Herd football team is the perfect rebuild for you. Just be warned: The roster's state is not "alright, alright, alright."

Similar to Ball State, Marshall's best player on the team is only an 83 overall. What's worse is that it isn't even the quarterback but a senior linebacker, Monroe Beard III. Sure, MLB is an important position, but when your junior QB is only 78 overall, you will have some work to do. All that said, the school does has a rich history and some snazzy bright uniforms--they made our best College Football 25 uniforms list--so it isn't all bad.

So, can you take this low-rated team stuck at the bottom of a mediocre conference and raise them to glory? If so, it sounds like the plot of a good 2006 movie.

Maryland

Crabcakes and football! That's what Maryland does! Whether it was the early day of the Southern Conference in the '50s or more recent success in the ACC under Bobby Ross and Ralph Friedgen, the Terrapins have always been one of those teams on the cusp of greatness. All those wins seem a distant memory now.

Ever since moving to the Big 10 in 2014, Maryland has struggled to gain any footing, averaging a sixth-place finish in the conference. So, what better challenge than pulling them up by their bootstraps to dominate the conference?

Despite only being touted as a three-star team, Maryland has a great base of players on both sides of the ball. They are led by their star senior linebacker, Ruben Hyppoplite II, and sophomore running back, Roy Hemby, making for the ultimate one-two punch of speed and power.

Miami

The University of Miami, better known as The U, is one of the most historic college football teams ever. It has produced no shortage of Hall of Fame NFL talent on both sides of the ball, including Andre Johnson, Ed Reed, Reggie Wayne, Michael Irvin, and Ray Lewis, just to name a few.

Even big schools can fall on hard times, though. The team hasn't won a National Championship since 2001 and hasn't finished first in their conference since 2017.

Of all the teams listed, Miami is the easiest to rebuild. Their roster is absolutely stacked at key positions. Of their starting 11 on offense, there are only four players with a rating below 85. Their defense is also balanced by two great pass disruptors, Elijah Alston and Rueben Bain Jr.

Nebraska

Remember when the Nebraska Cornhuskers college football team was an absolute beast in the '90s? Well, considering they haven't made the top 25 in the past decade, probably not.

Regardless of their lack of recent success, Nebraska is still an alma mater filled with rich history and rivalries that are worth building back up. Unlike a lot of teams on this list, you'll be able to do that straight away, thanks to their five-star quarterback.

While Dylan Raiola is only an 81 overall QB at the moment, the fact that he's a freshman means that he will be a complete monster by the time his senior year rolls around. Use this to recruit more players around him, and the Huskers will rise back to prominence in no time.

Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is one of those universities where you have to wonder what went wrong. From a national title win in 1999 and ranking 23rd all-time for most wins in college football to being unable to win their conference since 2010 is a pretty steep drop.

It is that storied history and failure to succeed in recent years that makes for the perfect comeback Cinderella story for this ACC darling in EA Sports College Football 25. Accomplishing that starts on defense.

Four of Virginia Tech's top five overall players are found on that side of the ball, with their ball-hawking corner, Dorian Strong, leading the charge. The college also has solid proximity to multiple pipelines, including PA, MA, and DE, making the variety of prospects you'll get from recruiting to be widespread.
