Escape to the Country graced our screens for a fresh episode on Monday (July 22) with presenter Briony May Williams set on a mission to locate an idyllic home in another country for a couple. Kevan and Lizzie, hailing from Holywood in County Down, sought their dream tranquil abode in Herefordshire to stay closer to their kin.

Though residing just a handful of miles from Belfast, the couple craved to relocate from Northern Ireland back to the lush English countryside post-retirement. However, one property left them utterly astounded.

Briony took Kevan and Lizzie on a tour around a picture-perfect house available for sale in Withington Marsh. This exquisite 18th-century stone cottage had extensions transforming it into a wonderfully spacious dwelling, retaining original features such as a rustic fireplace and stone walls.

The kitchen and dining space opened up to a beautifully adorned garden where mature shrubs encircled a meticulously maintained green lawn embellished with fruit trees.

Additional features included a driveway accommodating several vehicles, a cozy al fresco dining area, and adjunct buildings featuring a garage and workshop, reports Wales Online.

The residence was a former post office packaged with two reception rooms and a sprawling estate of 0.33 acres of land. The property's prime location was a stone's throw away from village amenities.

When Briony enquired about the estimated worth of the house, the couple overestimated the price, leaving the potential buyers gobsmacked.

"This is a house that keeps its secrets inside. It's like an apple, you don't really know what's inside it, until you get into it," Kevan confessed to the BBC show's host.

Briony chimed in: "Let's talk about price", prompting Kevan to take a punt: "I'm going to do a wild stab in the dark here, and suggest £550,000."

Lizzie chimed in with her own estimate: "I'm going to go for £530,000." Briony then revealed the actual cost: "Well, you're both wrong. It's actually on the market for £500,000."

The revelation of the property's asking price had Lizzie gasping while Kevan queried in disbelief: "Really?"

Lizzie expressed her astonishment further: "Oh wow". As the episode drew to a close, Lizzie and Kevan shared that the former post office had completely won them over.

The couple praised the ample space and features of the property, and were particularly taken aback by its asking price. They were eager to discuss with the current owners about the possibility of a swift move.

Yet, Briony had an update for the viewers, explaining that since Lizzie and Kevan hadn't secured a buyer for their Northern Ireland home, they were unable to make an offer on the charming extended former post office.
