Xander Schauffele's net worth has been significantly increased by £2.3million ($3.1million) after his first Open Championship victory at Royal Troon at the weekend. The 30-year-old American golfer claimed his maiden Claret Jug after finishing with an overall score of -9, hitting 16 out of 18 fairways in his final round on Sunday.

He began his last day of the tournament with five consecutive pars, before achieving back-to-back birdies on the 6th and 7th holes, putting him -2 under for the day. Further birdies on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th left him -6 with just two holes remaining, with the San Diego native calmly completing his round with pars on the 17th and 18th to win the Open Championship.

No play-offs were required during the final round, with Schauffele finishing two strokes ahead of T2 Justin Rose and Billy Horschel overall, while Thriston Lawrence and Russell Henley rounded off the top five. Schauffele's impressive win added £2.3million to his estimated £15.4million ($20million) net worth, thanks to the Open Championship's prize pot of £13.1million shared among all players at Troon.

This isn't the first time Schauffele has won big this year he reportedly earned a whopping £12.3m ($15.9m) in 2024 alone. Schauffele began his 2024 campaign without a major trophy, but he will conclude it with two, thanks to his recent victory at Royal Troon and his triumph at the PGA Championship in May.

He narrowly beat US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke at Valhalla, finishing with -21 overall compared to his closest competitor's -20, and was handsomely rewarded for his success, reports the Mirror. The total prize fund for this year's PGA Championship was a staggering £14.3m ($18.5), with Schauffele pocketing a cool £2.5m ($3.3m) of that.

The American also boosted his net worth with an eighth-place finish at the Masters in April, and a T7 placement at the US Open, earning him an additional £479,523 ($620,000) and £494,442 ($639,289) respectively. In addition, Schauffele has increased his 2024 winnings with top 10 finishes at events such as the Memorial, Wells Fargo Championship, the Valspar, Players Championship, Genesis Invitational, the American Express, and the Sentry, to name just a few.

2024 is also the first time since 1982 that all four majors have been won by Americans, with Schauffele claiming The Open Championship and PGA Championship, DeChambeau securing the US Open, and Scottie Scheffler winning the Masters.
