Royal Troon has taken no prisoners this week with favourites Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau finishing their opening round over par.

But that is better than Langasque managed as he completed just seven holes in his opening round on Thursday.

He got off to a fairly good start as he shot a birdie on the second to recover his bogey on the opening hole.

But everything changed on the fourth, where Langasque later revealed he suffered an injury.

The Frenchman attempted to continue before a mishap on the eighth led an exasperated Langasque to quit.

His disastrous tee shot ended up in the rough after travelling just 51 metres and he followed that up by chipping the ball into an even worse position.

Langasque initially went to take his next shot before backtracking, taking off his cap and shaking his head, visibly fed up with his afternoon's play.

He later took to social media to reveal the reason behind his early withdrawal.

McIlroy also suffered a nightmare opening round as one of his shots flew over the railway line, resulting in a first-round score of 78 — finishing a whopping seven over par.

Englishman Daniel Brown hit 65 to take the lead ahead of Shane Lowry into the second round, with just one shot separating the pair.
