Good Morning Britain viewers expressed deep worry for Polly Bartlett.

Policemen were called to the scene in Harehills, Leeds, where an enormous riot had erupted on Thursday, July 18, 2024. The task of reporting on this situation live on ITV fell to the on-screen reporter.

Regrettably, when her time came, she seemed overwhelmed. She was initially caught off-guard by an audio glitch and could not hear her cue from main presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Robert Rinder.

To make matters worse, television audiences noticed her stumbling over her sentences, pausing extensively between each word, frequently checking her mobile phone, and seemingly struggling to address the camera.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Concerned about her during the live broadcast, viewers rushed over to X to share their anxiety. One asked "Is Polly alright? ", and offered support with comments like "I hate the cringe of someone dying on live tv. Come on Polly you can do it."

Another observer simply said: "Oh dear Polly", and another chimed in with: "Poor Polly is having a bad day I reckon Katie Ricketts will be back next time."

One person made a light-hearted suggestion, "Polly put the kettle on", but a final viewer harshly joked: "Is she on work experience?"

West Yorkshire Police reported dealing with a serious public disorder incident that day including an overturned double-decker bus being set ablaze in Leeds, along with a toppled police vehicle.

Leeds locals have been warned to remain indoors as emergency services strive to diffuse riot-like scenes.

Callouts to an "ongoing disturbance" on Luxor Street began around 5pm on Thursday amid escalating conflicts between agency workers and children.

Although the minors were safely relocated, the situation intensified when crowds assembled and began hurling objects at constables. Horrifying footage of the pandemonium has since spread like wildfire across social media platforms.

As havoc consumed the Harehills district of Leeds, law enforcement agencies issued a statement shortly after midnight on Friday (19 July), attributing the disorder to a "instigated by a criminal minority."

The notice stated: "Police are continuing to attend to a serious disorder incident in the Harehills area this evening. A large number of public order officers have been deployed to the location in what remains an ongoing incident."

"We wish to reassure residents we are responding to the disorder incidents which have taken place, and that appropriate specialist public order resources are attending."

"Officers are also reviewing footage which has circulated on social media showing offending. All criminal offences, including damage to vehicles from fire, will be fully investigated by detectives from Leeds CID and the force's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team."

The police notice continues: "We want to make it very clear that the full weight of the law will be brought against those responsible. Police can also confirm that no-one has so far been reported to have been hurt in the disorder and police are treating the matter as a serious public order incident."

"Residents who have perhaps gathered to observe the incidents are asked to keep away from the disorder while officers manage the incident."
