This Morning: Dermot walks off set for a 'toilet break'

Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond, the dynamic duo of This Morning, announced some changes to the show on Friday as they took advantage of the sunny weather by presenting outdoors.

They were joined by guests Gyles Brandreth and Isla Traquair for a chat about the latest news headlines, however, things took a humorous turn when Dermot jokingly walked off set and attempted to open the studio doors.

His co-stars were left in fits of laughter as he calmly returned to the sofa to carry on with the rest of the segment.

The conversation at the time was centred around the 250 Euro fine being imposed on holidaymakers who "hog" sun beds, reports the Mirror.

The discussion then moved onto how a third of employees like to "take time out" in the toilets. "I actually do this quite often," Alison confessed with a laugh. "You know when you want a bit of a break. There's a new survey out that found a third of employees visit the loo just to take a little breather."

"Oh yeah," Dermot concurred, as Alison continued: "You know when everyone is doing your head in, you go in the toilet, sit on the toilet for a bit...and you know, just chill out."

Before Alison could finish her sentence, Dermot rose from his seat and walked off.

"Dermot has gone," Alison observed as Isla burst into laughter. As Dermot tried to enter the studio doors, the host added: "He tried."

In another part of the programme, Dermot interrupted Alison to take in his surroundings.

"Honestly, I am just going to take a moment, I hope you don't mind," he said to Alison.

"I don't mind," Alison replied as Dermot continued: "Have we got a wide shot, please? If someone had told me as a kid, right? This is so iconic because so much TV has happened from here."

"And if someone told me as a kid I'd be sat outside presenting with one of my best buddies 30 years down the line."

"I was a runner and I used to get the train," he pointed before adding: "I used to dream about working here."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
