HK Streetathon introduces 'Five-senses Marathon'

Organisers of this year's Hong Kong Streetathon say participants will get a unique experience that engages all their senses. The day will include a full marathon around Victoria Harbour, as well as a cross-harbour half marathon and a 10km race in Tseung Kwan O. As part of what's being dubbed a "Five-senses Marathon", local delicacies will be dished out to runners. This, organisers say, will satisfy the gustatory sense. There'll be music and fragrance diffusers in parts of the route for the auditory and olfactory senses, while the scenes of Victoria Harbour, various performances, and high fives from the sidelines will satisfy the visual and tactile senses. "This year, we aim to create the most meaningful marathon by bringing the first ever 'Five-senses Marathon' into the event to enhance the overall running experience," said Andes Leung, CEO and co-founder of organiser RunOurCity Foundation. Leung said this year's marathon not only promises a fun running experience, but is also partnered with 25 charities and NGOs to advocate for the seven United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Streetathon will include a family event, the Asian YOUTHRUN 10K race, designed to encourage students to participate in long-distance running activities to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The Streetathon will be held on December 8, with registration for the full and half marathon, and the 10K race beginning on July 25.
