BBC Call the Midwife hunk 'bulks up for sexy new role after quitting show'

Call the Midwife: Teaser trailer for Season 13 ep 6

As per latest reports, Call the Midwife's heartthrob actor Olly Rix is gearing up to exit for a new role in another popular medical drama.

Aged 37, the actor has garnered quite the fan base through his compelling portrayal of Matthew Aylward, a staple character on the cherished show, over the last three years.

However, it appears Saturday nights will now be graced by him joining Casualty's cast.

To prepare for his surgeon role in the BBC series, Rix has been seen evidently bulking up, as shown in his recent Instagram posts.

A source told The Sun: "He has already got viewers' hot under the collar on Call the Midwife, but their pulses will be truly racing when they see Olly embrace the steamy new role.

"Although filming on the new series has been going on for weeks now, fans of Olly will have to wait until next year before they get the chance to see him on Casualty."

In quest of additional insights and comments, the BBC and Ollie's representatives were approached by Express.co.uk.

Rix gained considerable attention during his stint as Matthew, the husband to nurse Trixie Frankie (portrayed by Helen George), on Call the Midwife.

Both actors have gained attention for their seemingly close bond this year following the breakup with their real-life partners, according to reports.

The spotlight turned towards Helen in November, seen exiting Olly's dwelling in West London. This incident followed four months after her split with Jack Ashton, her co-star she met while working on the same BBC programme back in 2014.

Around the same time, Olly's seven-year relationship with makeup artist Natasha Fagri came to an end.

Earlier this year, Matthew made his departure from Call the Midwife, leaving viewers stunned as they watched him pack up and leave for New York without his wife.

The actor's return for the next series has been ruled out. However, he remained quiet about his future career plans.

But, the striking images of him working out shirtless in the gym, shared on Instagram last week, hinted that he was gearing up for a role that demanded a seriously attractive physique.
