Channel 4 Suspect fans 'switch off' during new thriller after spotting string of blunders

Trailer for second series of Channel 4's Suspect

On Wednesday night, Channel 4's spine-tingling series Suspect returned for its second season, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.

As the drama unfolded in the premiere episode, Suspect aficionados were thrown off when an enigmatic man barged into Susannah's abode seeking assistance.

Undergoing hypnosis, he expressed to Susannah his desire to quit smoking, but during the session, he shockingly confessed to a more sinister past.

He chillingly admitted to having taken lives before, leaving Susannah aghast as she probed for further details.

While hypnotised, the troubled character Jon Fallow (portrayed by Dominic Cooper), divulged his plans to murder another woman that very evening.

In a state of panic, Susannah dashed to call her contact in law enforcement, only to be cut short when Jon descended the stairs, oblivious to his earlier admission.

Susannah fibbed about speaking to a workmate for medical aid, alleging Jon had suffered a seizure, but Jon was sceptical.

He insisted she end the call and hastily vacated the premises as police sirens neared.

Keen to avoid interrogation, Jon made a quick getaway in his van, while Susannah emerged from the house just moments too late to catch him.

Yet, eagle-eyed viewers didn't miss a beat, pointing out several oversights in the show.

One viewer commented: "Surely there are fingerprints in her house and dashcam footage from the police who were towards the van."

Viewers were left utterly bewildered by the latest plot twists, with one person exclaiming on social media: "And DNA on the cigarette! And an IP address for his email.

"And who, after being married to a copper wouldn't memorise the number plate? I #suspect this is gonna be c**p!" (sic)

Another fan expressed their disbelief, saying: "This is a load of s**t. A copper's ex would've got the reg of his van, collected fingerprints and saved the DNA from his dog end. A house that nice would be CCTV'D also. For that reason, I'm out." (sic)

A third viewer, new to the series, shared their confusion: "I didn't see series one and so I'm finding this all a bit silly and totally unrealistic. I'm, totally lost, so I'm out,"

Meanwhile, another pointed out a peculiar inconsistency: "Strange that he confessed to murder when she said he wouldn't tell her anything he didn't want to under the hypnosis."

However, some people were thrilled with the new series as one viewer tweeted: "Very intense first two episodes. Such a good final scene. Looking forward to tomorrow's"

Suspect is available to watch on ALL 4.
