Shinola Debuts Its First-Ever Manual-Winding Chronograph

Shinola is back with a new wristwatch that draws inspiration from a piece of American history. Entitled Mooncraft Monster: Apollo 11 Edition, the time-teller derives its references from the Apollo Space Missions while nodding to an untold story of Detroit’s instrumental impact on space and lunar exploration. This release also marks the brand’s first-ever manual-winding chronograph offering.

Hallmarked characteristics from Shinola’s Monster model can be traced in this new reference, which now boasts a titanium watch case. The 43mm-wide reference has a blue aluminum bezel insert that mirrors its sea blue dial in a matte velvet finish.

Red, orange and cream hues further highlight the watch face in a retro-inspired aesthetics. On the rehaut, a small imprint commemorating the date for the first moon landing can be spotted between the 12 and 3 o’clock positions.

The open caseback offers an unobstructed view of the rhodium-plated  SW510 M b Chronograph movement, complete with a laser-etched serial number. Available for pre-order now, the Mooncraft Monster: Apollo 11 Edition will be officially released on July 16, 9 a.m. ET. It’s confirmed to be a limited edition of 500 units, each retailing for $3,995 USD.
