Sex and the City actor Kyle MacLachlan, remembered for his role as Trey MacDougal, has hinted at a potential comeback in HBO's spin-off series, And Just Like That...

In the show's fourth season, Trey's marriage with Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) was riddled with issues like impotence, an overbearing mother-in-law, and conflicting views about children.

Kyle, famed for his roles in ABC's Twin Peaks and Desperate Housewives, left the show once the season concluded, with Charlotte's story arc continuing as she married her divorce lawyer Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler).

Although the original series ended back in 2004, multiple spin-offs have emerged over the years - the latest being the 2021 sequel series And Just Like That... starring many of the original cast members.

Regarding the show's resurgence and its ever-growing fan base, Kyle spoke to People Magazine, stating: "People really love that show. It has stayed around and, not unlike Desperate Housewives, people really enjoy that show.

"And of course now with Sex in the City being back, there's a renewed interest of people going back.

"There's a new fan base for me, a younger fan base, which is really what's found the show," he added.

"A lot of the younger fans that found the show actually [found it] from older friends, or parents, or siblings, that sort of exposed them to it when they were younger, or now that they're actually of the age when they can really get it."

He then hinted at the possibility of Trey's return in the sequel show - either in its third season which is currently under production, or perhaps later.

"There's always a chance," he disclosed. "It's all whatever the creatives in the show - and they're all brilliant - whatever they think.

"We'll see what happens. But I have such fond memories of working on that show and working with Kristin Davis. She's just delightful and everybody on it...It was a fun time."
