The Boys fans 'work out' A-Train's undoing as heartwarming scene may lead to 'dark 'twist

The Boys - Season 4: Official trailer

*Warning - The following article contains spoilers from The Boys season 4, episode 6.*

Amazon Prime series The Boys has left fans reeling following this week’s particularly graphic episode entitled ‘Dirty Business’. However, we also see a brief glimmer of hope for The Seven’s A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) who has been secretly working for M.M. (Laz Alonso) and the gang.

Season 4, episode 6 centres around an exclusive party for the right-wing political elite, as well as a handful of powerful Supes including Homelander (Antony Starr) and other members of The Seven. In a covert mission orchestrated by M.M. and other members of the boys, Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) is asked to go undercover as a Supe called Webweaver (Dan Mousseau).

However, things quickly go south at the party hosted by wealthy Supe Tek Knight (Derek Wilson), as he leads Hughie into an underground sex dungeon. Meanwhile, disaster also strikes for Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and M.M. when they are caught in the library by the villainous Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and they shoot her in the head.

Fans are left on the edge of their seats as M.M. appears to experience a heart attack (we later learn it is a panic attack), dropping to the floor. Kimiko is then left to clean up the mess, as Sister Sage is revealed to have survived the gunshot, as her brain can regenerate.

As Kimiko panics over what will happen to M.M., A-Train appears and she begs the Supe to save her friend “for the sake of his daughter”.

In the end, A-Train agrees and uses his super speed to rush M.M. to an ambulance far away from the scene.

It is then that we are treated to an extremely rare, heartfelt moment from a series that tends to shy away from anything too warm and fuzzy.

A little boy notices A-Train pile M.M. into the ambulance and smiles. Realising that he is really being a hero rather than simply pretending to be one for the first time in his life, A-Train smiles back.

While this scene may have been heartwarming, many fans took to Reddit to share their fears that this could also be the Supe’s downfall, as his redemption arc is almost complete.

One viewer shared: “Dark prediction: That little boy smiling at A-Train will tell everyone about A-Train’s real (save), it will be figured out by (Homelander) that the (save) ws M.M. and this good deed will be A-Train’s undoing.” (sic)

“The scene with A-train and that kid oh homelander is definitely killing a-train isn’t he,” a second person penned with crying emojis. (sic)

A third worried fan expressed: “So about the hospital bit with the kid smiling… A-Train is cooked, isn't he.” (sic)

Another person wrote back: “I more got the impression it was him realizing he'd done the first real heroic thing in his entire career and saw someone genuinely admire him for something that mattered for the first time. Maybe I'm too optimistic.” (sic)

While other fans were simply happy that A-Train finally got his moment to shine, with one writing: “Man that A-Train save scene was oddly wholesome and made me smile lol.” (sic)

Another agreed: “A train scene was great one of the best in the whole show.” (sic)

One more expressed: “No matter what else happens, I want A-Train to make it out of the series alive and to become a true hero.”

The Boys Season 4, episode 7 entitled The Insider will air Thursday, July 11, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
