Germany star 'loves eating mealworms' and adopts drastic new look for Spain Euro 2024 tie
Germany midfielder Robert Andrich has revealed he thinks mealworms are an 'awesome' snack to eat as a professional footballer. Andrich and his team-mates are gearing up for a crunch quarter-final clash with Spain at Euro 2024.
And the Bayer Leverkusen star will be looking to go into the match in prime condition - something which will be helped, he claims, by one of his unusual cravings. "I love mealworms," Andrich told team-mate David Raum on Germany's official YouTube channel.
"They are a good source of protein. In fact I don't just love them - I think they are awesome."

The 29-year-old has started all four of Germany's matches at Euro 2024 but the drastic new look has been adopted just in time for the quarter-finals.

He was a regular in Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen midfield which went unbeaten in the Bundesliga last term.
And Andrich is set to win his 10th senior cap on Friday if Julian Nagelsmann gives him the nod to start against La Roja.

Manager Luis de la Fuente will hope his youthful wide pairing of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams can sting the Germans. While Andrich and co. will be keen to see more magic from Jamal Musiala, who goes into the game as the competition's joint-top-scorer.

Looking forward to kick-off, Germany winger Leroy Sane said: "We know that Spain attack high, but that will give us space to work with. They are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment, but they also know it won’t be easy for them. Two very strong teams are facing each other.
"If we have the momentum on our side, we can really hurt the Spaniards. Spain press very well - especially when they win the ball, they immediately look to play forward. With the two fast wingers [Yamal and Williams], they have gained an additional weapon. We know what their strengths are."
