Channel 4 have announced that they will be airing "uninterrupted" coverage of the UK's General Election as polling day comes to an end on July 4. Journalist Alastair Campbell confirmed the news in a social media post.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) the 67-year-old TV presenter wrote: " Oh and btw … there will be no commercial breaks all night on @Channel4 so do join @RestIsPolitics team @krishgm @maitli and big names from all the parties us for the best uninterrupted analysis from 950pm tonight."

Co-star Krishnan Guru-Murthy confirmed the ad-free coverage, as he Tweeted: "Join us on ⁦@Channel4 on TV and YouTube at 9.45pm for⁩ 'Britain Decides with The Rest is Politics and Gogglebox'.

"On air uninterrupted with no commercial breaks for all the reaction, analysis and results through the night until 9am tomorrow. Can’t wait. So excited!!!"

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Some fans decided that the lack of adverts would be the winning factor for which broadcaster to go with when getting their Election updates. One user responded: "I was going to do BBC, but this sounds way better. Thanks for the heads-up Alastair."

"BTW will be waking up early in the morning - Hong Kong time. Cannot wait for the coverage. Good luck!"

Britain Decides with The Rest Is Politics and Gogglebox will begin at 9.45pm this evening and will follow the results of the ballot until 9am the following morning - making it the longest continuous programme on Election Night.
