Justin Rose, the former world No. 1, was the main attraction at The Open's final qualifier at Burnham and Berrow on Tuesday, and he certainly lived up to expectations.

The 43 year old not only put on a spectacular show for the large crowd that followed him throughout his 36 holes in Somerset, finishing joint-top of the leaderboard at eight-under-par, but also took the time to interact with fans of all ages, making their day even more special.

Rose's qualification attempt began on a shaky note with a tee shot that veered to the right and landed in the first cut of rough. As he retrieved his tee, he was trailed by dozens of spectators, one of whom decided to engage Rose in conversation as he made his way towards his ball - an act that would not be allowed or enable during a major golf event.

Rose signed countless autographs after a long day at Burnham and Berrow (Image: GETTY) function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114291&playerApiId=v114291');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114291"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Yet despite the pressure of securing a spot at a major championship, Rose paused for a brief chat with the woman before offering a fist bump, showing his down-to-earth nature with the tournament still ongoing.

Throughout the day, Rose had numerous interactions with his supporters, reports the Mirror. . Unlike many tour events, this one had a more intimate atmosphere, allowing fans to get up close and personal with a Ryder Cup hero.

One spectator was taken aback when he opened the door of a portaloo to find Rose waiting outside for his turn during his front nine.

As Rose completed his final round with a steady par on the 18th, he was met with heartfelt applause and then by his elated family.

The moment was made even more special as he celebrated with his long-term manager Paul "Macca" McDonnell, who had stepped in as caddie for the day.

Despite the challenging course at Burnham and Berrow, McDonnell's duties were far from over. Rose generously took time out to snap photos with young fans, handing out signed golf balls and gloves with the help of "Macca".

After a gruelling eight-hour stint on the links, Rose opted against an immediate departure. He lingered at the club to engage with members and later joined fellow qualifiers Abraham Ancer, Dominic Clemons, and Charlie Lindh for a celebratory photo.
