The Great British Sewing Bee sends fans into meltdown as BBC show taken off air
The Great British Sewing Bee aficionados were left in a stitch of annoyance as their favourite show was unexpectedly dropped from the BBC One Tuesday night lineup. Devotees of the sartorial series, which is typically broadcast at 9pm, were met with disappointment when the programme was sidelined for a last-minute schedule reshuffle.
In a bid to serve up its Wimbledon coverage, the Beeb decided to postpone the much-loved sewing contest, promising viewers a fresh episode on Wednesday evening instead, also at 9pm on BBC One.
The official Twitter handle for The Great British Sewing Bee broke the news to fans, posting: "Sorry to burst your bubble: Sewing Bee is on tomorrow instead of tonight! " This led to an immediate thread of disgruntled responses in the comments section.
Discontent was palpable among the show's fanbase, with one viewer lamenting: "Why??? Replacing it with the Repair Shop makes no sense at all."
Another chimed in with frustration over sports displacements: "I don't understand why can't footy, tennis etc be put on @BBCThree instead of messing up regular schedules, it'd give a boost to that other channel it wouldn't normally get," reports the Mirror.

What time and which channel - BBC1 or BBC2?" Meanwhile, another expressed their vexation more bluntly: "I've been annoyed about this all day, since I read the tv schedule this morning. I could understand if they'd taken it off for the football (although I'd still have been furious) but for a repeat of the Repair Shop? What's that all about?"
One disgruntled viewer remarked: "Everything I like is getting moved or postponed due to footie, tennis or election."
Another fan lamented: "Nooooooo! I need my weekly fix now!!" A third added: "Dammit. I was just getting all cosy in bed to watch it."

The Great British Sewing Bee isn't the only show affected by the extensive sports coverage. EastEnders will only be broadcast on Wednesday and Thursday this week and has been relocated from its usual spot on BBC One to BBC Two.
In addition, The One Show, which usually airs on weekday evenings from 7pm, will not be shown at all this week.
Tonight's episode of Sewing Bee will see the amateur sewers tackle three "technically taxing" challenges from the world of lingerie as they vie for a place in the quarter-final.

The episode description states: "First up, in the Pattern Challenge, it is time for bed as the sewers are asked to make a pyjama blouse. Piping is an intricate undertaking, and it should cover the cuffs and front."
"For the Transformation Challenge, the sewers take shapewear and lace and, using their unique structure and form, create new outfits."
Finally, it's 'boom or bustier' as the sewers tackle boning and make bustier dresses in the Made-to-Measure. Their ability to fit a model is put to the test - there is nowhere to hide if a bustier dress is not fitted well."
