LIV Golf star in danger of being dumped by league immediately snubbed by Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau has jokingly ruled out the possibility of playing rounds of golf with Pat Perez for eternity, branding the LIV Golf star "too damn funny" to handle on a regular basis. The two-time US Open champion faced a question about who he'd choose to compete alongside for life, from either the PGA Tour or LIV Golf ranks.

Despite his respect for Perez's abilities, DeChambeau dismissed him immediately due to his sense of humour, which he feels would be overwhelming over time, reports the Mirror.

DeChambeau said: "It wouldn't be Pat Perez 'cause he's too damn funny, he's way too funny. He'd be great to play with though. I would personally like to play with probably Charles Howell. Cause he's the most positive individual I've ever met in my entire life. And he's just so nice and so straightforward and doesn't harm a fly."

DeChambeau's comments came before it emerged that his LIV Golf pal Perez may be nearing the end of his journey with the breakaway tour after a two-year run.

One of the earlier signees, Perez signed a deal reportedly worth $10million (£7.9million) with the controversial Saudi-backed venture as it launched in 2022.

However, this decision wasn't without backlash as Perez drew criticism for joining the breakaway league. Among the critics was Tiger Woods, who cast doubt on the 'incentive' and competitive spirit of LIV Golf, particularly highlighting the substantial rewards given to players finishing at the lower end of the leaderboard.

Perez was left a bit agitated by this reaction as he spoke on the Son of a Butch podcast, exclaiming: "That's the stupidest ---- I have ever heard of in my life. That's one of the stupidest things I think he has said.

"The incentive is the fact that last place is $120,000, first place is $4 million. You cannot win $4 million on the PGA Tour."

Perez didn't refrain from highlighting the contrasts with Woods' own career, alleging: "He signed a $40million deal right out of college," and was "flying on the Nike jet".

Perez added: "He found incentive. He could have shut it down right then. He had a lot of guarantees. You know what, and he was the hottest thing.

"He's made so much money off the course, he found incentive to go. But again, he only played how many tournaments. He didn't go - I never saw him at John Deere, never saw him supporting all these events. He played in the majors, he played in the WGCs and that was it. He played Torrey. Never played Riv. But he's worth every dime. In fact, like I said, he's two billion short of where he should be, I think."

Meanwhile, Pat's recent performance on the LIV tour has been undeniably shaky, barely hanging on at 47th place with only three rounds left. Despite securing a T-14 finish in Nashville last week, he has a tremendous challenge ahead in the upcoming retreats to Spain, the UK and West Virginia if he intends to secure his position within the league.
