Jude Bellingham demand made by UEFA as FA hold England Euro 2024 suspension belief
England ace Jude Bellingham has reportedly been contacted by UEFA following his controversial goal celebration during his team’s Euro 2024 victory over Slovakia on Sunday. The Real Madrid attacker could be sanctioned after cupping his groin area in a gesture apparently directed towards the Slovakia bench. But FA bosses are said to be confident the player will avoid a ban.
Bellingham spared England’s blushes as he struck an audacious bicycle kick into the corner of the net in the 95th minute, with the Three Lions trailing 1-0 at the time. Harry Kane then scored a winner at the start of extra time.
Bellingham took to social media after the match to defend his celebration. But the 21-year-old is still sweating over his participation in England’s quarter-final showdown with Switzerland.

The organisation have also contacted the FA for their explanation.
UEFA will touch base with players and coaches on the Slovakia as well to get their version of events. But FA chiefs believe European football’s governing body may not even deal with the incident until the conclusion of the tournament.
Bellingham is currently being investigated by UEFA for a 'potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct'. And all parties have been given 72 hours to respond to the organisation’s request for information.

A UEFA spokesperson confirmed the investigation had been initiated at the start of the week as they explained: “[The] ethics and disciplinary inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English FA player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match.”
Meanwhile, Bellingham had already taken to X in the aftermath of the match to provide some context around his X-rated gesture as he wrote: “An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”
And former England striker Gary Lineker later hit out at football chiefs as he wrote on the same platform: “For crying out loud, the @EURO2024 celebration police are looking into @BellinghamJude. Ridiculous!”
