BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt called out by Naga Munchetty as he's warned 'be nice'

BBC Breakfast: Naga tells Charlie to be 'nice' to Hugh Ferris

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty gave her co-star Charlie Stayt a stern warning on Saturday morning. During the show, the presenters handed the reins to sports presenter Hugh Ferris.

As he wrapped up the sports segment, he touched on the upcoming Tour De France, which kicks off this weekend. He said: “The tour starts with a Grand Départ, Naga and Charlie.

“It ends on the Grand Promenade rather on the Champs-Élysées this year because Paris is busy with the Olympics so the tour is ending in Nice instead

“A break from tradition for boring logistical reasons.” Although Naga quickly highlighted that the race itself won’t be boring, Hugh agreed as he said it was a beautiful place to finish.

Charlie was quick to applaud the way the BBC sports presenter rounded up the segment. He quipped: “Stylishly said, if I may say.”

Emphasising the change in the way he pronounced the word ‘grand’, Hugh replied: “Well if it’s a Grand Départ it has to be a Grand Promenade, you can’t go from a Grand Départ to a Grand Promenade.”

Indicating he was showing off at his French pronunciation Charlie hit back: “Alright, don’t get carried away!”

While the sports presenter and Charlie laughed at his cheeky swipe, Naga looked awkwardly between the two of them.

She told him: “He called you incisive! You need to be nice to him, that’s a rare thing. Thanks Hugh!”

Keeping the tone lighthearted, Charlie introduced the weather segment as he asked Elizabeth Rizzini what type of promenade viewers were going to see.

She replied: “Well, I’ve got the Grand Promenade Cromer in Norfolk!”

During the show, Naga accidentally cut Charlie off mid-sentence when her hay fever seemed to get the better of her.

While Charlie started to speak about Dua Lipa’s set at Glastonbury, Naga let out a huge sneeze, causing him to stop his sentence.

After excusing herself, he looked a bit stunned as he commented “Bless you”.

Looking into the camera, Naga quickly said: “Sorry!”

Charlie replied: “It’s alright, doesn’t happen very often.”

The star then reached behind the sofa to get herself a tissue as Charlie told her that he’d carry on, as they later went to the weather segment, Naga revealed the sneezing ordeal was due to a high pollen count.

BBC Breakfast is available to watch on BBC One from 6am.
