Britain's Billy Harris' run at the Eastbourne International came to an end on Friday after a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 loss to Max Purcell in the semifinal.

In a back-and-fourth match, Purcell took the early advantage and won the first set in 46 minutes.

But Harris, cheered on by a vocal home crowd, came storming back, winning five consecutive points to win the first game of the second set.

Harris would have been confident heading into the final set, having not lost a third set since April. However, Purcell held his nerve to reach his first ever singles ATP Tour final.

The result ends Britain's hopes of a singles title at the tournament.

Purcell will meet either Taylor Fritz or fellow countryman Aleksandar Vukic in Saturday's final.

In the women's semifinals in Eastbourne, former U.S Open finalist Leylah Fernandez beat Madison Keys whilst Daria Kasatkina beat Jasmine Paolini to secure their spots in the final.
