BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood speechless as co-star makes racy proposition on air

BBC Breakfast: Mike and Carol agree to camping at Wimbledon

BBC Breakfast hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt got involved in some cheeky matchmaking during Thursday's show - leaving Carol Kirkwood hiding behind her hands.

The show's sports presenter Mike Bushell dropped in to give the latest on Wimbledon, where he revealed he would actually be camping overnight to secure a place for Monday's event.

The sports host also pointed out that meteorologist Carol would also be in attendance at the prestigious sporting event at the same time.

Mike went on to explain how he would be staying in a three-man tent for his overnight stay, prompting Naga to ask: "Who else is going with you?"

"No one, I mean Carol is welcome to come and join me," Mike replied, as Naga exclaimed: “Oh she’d love that!"

“Lots of space is a three-person tent and a cup of tea available,” Naga added.

Carol, who had burst into a fit of laughter, replied: “Putting me right on the spot.”

“Is that a yes then Carol?” Naga pushed, as Carol hesitantly responded: "It's a maybe, it's a maybe."

Despite Carol's awkward body language, Naga asked: “What does it depend on Carol? What does Mike need to do? Does Mike need to bring the snacks?"

"Mike [I need] hot tea on tap," Carol playfully demanded. "That's what it depends on. Definitely."

An excited Naga yelled: "Deal," noting: "So we'll get pictures of you and Mike camping out on Sunday into Monday. I look forward to it."

Before Mike threw in an added incentive for his potential date, admitting: “And I’ll try not to snore."

Trying to move the toe-curling conversation on, Carol said: "Anyway..."

The whole studio could be heard erupting into laughter off-camera as Carol began delivering the weather forecast for today.
