Eamonn Holmes makes Ruth Langsford 'dig' in first public appearance since split

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes skipped the red carpet at the TRIC Awards as he attended this year's ceremony held in Mayfair on Tuesday, June 25.

The 64-year-old opened up about his health while collecting an accolade for the best breakfast show with the aid of his walker. He also appeared to take a barbed swipe at his ex Ruth Langsford.

He admitted to Express.co.uk and other guests and media attending the event that his hospital operation went wrong and left him with more health problems.

As he collected the award and addressed the audience, the former This Morning star said: "I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong.

"So I got two things in my back that I didn’t want, so why not, I’ll happily accept this."

The "two things in my back" comment seemingly refers to Ruth as well as his major operation.

He later told the Daily Mail he felt he was on "borrowed time" as he admitted: "I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all."

Eamonn underwent spinal surgery in 2022 after enduring chronic back pain for years. He also had a double-hip replacement in 2016.

Unfortunately, his spinal surgery left him with a weakened left leg and he ended up falling down the stairs in his Weybridge home two weeks into his recovery.

His GB News co-stars supported him on Tuesday afternoon as they collected their TRIC Award.

Later on at the event, GB News presenter and leader of Reform UK Nigel Farage scooped the best presenter accolade for the second year in a row. He was met with a mixture of cheers and boos as he collected the gong.

Eamonn and Ruth announced their plans to split last month following 14 years of marriage. Eamonn has since moved out of their Surrey home, according to reports.

The pair, who used to host This Morning together on Fridays, were deemed the golden couple of daytime television, with the news of their split coming as a huge shock.
