Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" Diss Track Confirmed To Be Eligible for GRAMMYs

Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" diss track is eligible for GRAMMY nominations should the artist decide to submit it, said Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr..

TMZ briefly spoke with the industry exec, who shared that he doesn't "see any reason why ['Not Like Us'] couldn't be" nominated or even take home a GRAMMY. "Obviously, it's a hot record, it's amazing artistry," Mason Jr. said, further complimenting Dot's writing and calling it "incredible." He added that the rapper has a good history with the voting body — winning 17 out of his 50 nominations over the past decade — branding him a "success" with the organization.

Mason Jr. reiterated, however, that virality isn't the defining factor of GRAMMY nominations but rather the quality of work, noting that the voting body looks at "greatness" at the end of the day."That's a relevant record," he said. "It's impactful on so many levels. I like to believe the Academy members recognize that." The exec then joked that diss tracks could have its own category at the GRAMMYs one day, stating that "anything is possible."
