BBC Breakfast Carol Kirkwood's appearance sparks concern as viewers rage 'set an example'

Breakfast: Carol Kirkwood details the upcoming hot weather

BBC Breakfast fans who tuned into Monday's installment complained on social media after Carol Kirkwood reported on the hot weather. The Scottish presenter reported live from a lido in Greenwich as she gave updates on the heatwave.

However, fans couldn't help but notice that every time Carol came on screen to report about the high temperatures, she was gradually becoming more 'pink' and viewers became concerned about her getting sunburnt.

Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, one person complained: " So @carolkirkwood presenting weather heat alert on @BBCBreakfast in direct sunlight & getting sunburn on her chest??…. COME ON #BBCBreakfast put our lovely Carol in some shade….. SET AN EXAMPLE."

Another fan also chimed in: "Carol is getting more pink with every weather update. Please slap on the Factor 50 #bbcbreakfast."

A third person also typed: "Carols going redder and redder as the morning goes on #bbcbreakfast." A fourth said: "Oops! Carol forgot her sunscreen at the weekend."

Heat-health alerts have been issued for most of England as Brits are expected to bask in daytime temperatures up to 29 degrees this week.

Thanks to warm air moving northwards across the UK, the next four days will see plenty of bright and warm sunshine. Nights will be warmer and humid, with the weather expected to get wet by the end of the week.

Yellow heat-health alerts have been active from 08:00 on Monday 24 June in eight regions: East Midlands, West Midlands, the North West, the South East, the South West, the East of England, London and Yorkshire and the Humber.

The alert, issued jointly by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Met Office, will impact age groups who are most vulnerable such as young groups and the 65+ age group.

However, people can still continue with their day to day routine, but there may be some minor impacts such as travel disruptions.

The UKHSA warned that there would be an "increase in risk of mortality amongst vulnerable individuals and increased potential for indoor environments to become very warm".
