Antiques Roadshow woman in tears as she learns value of late brother's beloved items
An Antiques Roadshow guest was overcome with emotion when she discovered the true value of her late brother's treasured rock and roll posters. Her brother had amassed an impressive collection of posters over the years, and she brought 47 of them to be valued by expert James Supp.
These particular posters, featuring iconic artists like Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead, dated back to the period between 1967 and 1969. She explained that her brother, who sadly passed away 28 years ago, used to send money for postage to renowned rock concert promoter Bill Graham and the legendary venue Fillmore West in exchange for posters.
Remarkably, the posters had been carefully stored in a box for the past three decades, preserving them in excellent condition. The expert revealed that the posters were extremely valuable, particularly a Jimi Hendrix poster featuring a striking flying eyeball design.
James pointed out the placement of 'Bill Graham' and the poster number, indicating that it was a first edition. Created by the renowned artist Rick Griffin in the late 1960s, these posters are considered some of the most iconic rock and roll posters of all time.

Another of her Hendrix posters was valued at around £2.3k to £3.9k, while a poster showcasing The Grateful Dead's debut gig at Cafe au Go Go in Greenwich Village came with an estimated price tag of £1.5k to £2.3k.
James went on to reveal that the entirety of her 47-poster collection could fetch anywhere between £16k and £27.5k. By the end of the emotional evaluation, the guest was visibly moved to tears and shared with the expert that she had plans for them, saying she didn't want these pieces of history hidden away in a box.

Choked up, she stated: "Wow. Wow! He loved them and I love them too. I want to do something with them, you know? I don't know what to do. Enjoy them not in a box anymore."
It was found that a 1968 Jimi Hendrix Flying Eyeball poster is listed on eBay for around £2,500 and The Grateful Dead posters have previously been auctioned off online for roughly £1,200.
