Jurgen Klopp will manage Liverpool for the final time today against Wolves (4pm). The German, who said in January he is stepping down because he is "running out in energy", is planning to take a sabbatical after nine years at Anfield. So what's next for the German? Express Sport takes a look...

Speaking to the Anfield Wrap, Klopp confirmed this week that he wants to take time away from management to relax. He was mid-sabbatical in October 2015 when he agreed to take the Liverpool job. He said: "Definitely rest. I don't know how that feels but I want to [find out]. Travel, relax, see friends.

"I just want to live a life. Will I miss it? Probably. But being on the other side of it, being in the stands, or sitting in front of the telly and just going wild in the living room - why not?! I have to see it. I need to have a look at it.

"I cannot do it until I'm 70-something [and not know what that's like]. The rest of life, why should it start when you're 70? I would find a club if I want but I'm just not available. I'm off. We will see how long that takes.

"Then I will work, I will do something 100 per cent. The thing I understand most is football but maybe there's something else doing exactly what I do now. I cannot have a break and have already plans in place directly after, I want to rest, have a look and we'll see. I want to watch football, Euros, Champions League final!"

In a sit-down chat with the media, Klopp also confirmed he has no real plans yet during his time out of work. "I actually don't know," he said. "I have got an invitation now for the Champions League final. They said 'I don't think he will come' but of course I will come, it's the Champions League final and I have nothing to do really!

"That's one thing, besides that we didn't plan anything. At the Euros we will watch games and have tickets for a few games. Being in Germany for a long time, meeting friends, nothing spectacular. Just easy-going, not planning a pre-season, I will definitely not do that.

"And not being involved in any transfer talks, which is such a difference. I'm really looking forward to it. But no real plans."

What job could Klopp take after a break?

Klopp could yet completely retire from being a manager - but he will not rush into any decision. As such, he will be linked with many roles. He has previously been tipped to take over the German national team or Bayern Munich, with Barcelona another potential destination.

Managing his country, Germany, was seen as the likeliest option until recently. Julian Nagelsmann extended his contract until after the 2026 World Cup which shuts down that role unless Nagelsmann is sacked.

Would Klopp manage Bayern despite his Borussia Dortmund connections? That is unclear, and the Bavarians are certainly a very different club to his three previous teams - Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool. Bayern are on the hunt for a new head coach to replace Thomas Tuchel as soon as possible but it will not be Klopp.

Asked about the prospect back in February, Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke said: "Jurgen Klopp will not coach any club or national team for a year after this current season. That remains unchanged."

Whether the 56-year-old becomes the next Bayern manager after Tuchel's successor will depend on how well he does. If the new man only lasts a season or even less, Klopp could become a major contender.

He certainly won't become the manager of another Premier League club. He said: "I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That's not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn't. There's no chance."
