Brighton striker Undav demands apology from German press

Brighton striker Deniz Undav is demanding an apology from the German press.

On-loan with Stuttgart, Undav has helped VfB to a second place finish behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Back in February, when the team was knocked out of the DFB Cup by Bayer Leverkusen, the German told the press that it was the country's two best teams that had just played each other.

"Three months ago I said that the two best teams in Germany had just played against each other," he recalled.

"Everyone made fun of me. But I guess I was right, don't you think?

"You can all say sorry to me now," Undav said with a twinkle in his eye when he spoke to the press after the 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Before the season, everyone thought that Stuttgart would have to fight for survival. And now we finish in second place.

"We have played fantastic football and we deserve it."
