Macau hotel occupancy rate peaks at 95% for Labor Day

M achieved an average hotel occupancy rate of 89.2% during the five-day Labor Day holiday season in mainland China, starting on May 1, according to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). The highest occupancy rate was recorded on May 2 at 95.1%.

During the holiday period, Macau welcomed a total of 604,395 visitor arrivals, with approximately 80.6 percent (487,000 arrivals) coming from mainland China. Hong Kong accounted for around 12.9%, with approximately 78,000 arrivals, while Taiwan and international markets constituted 1.3% (8,000 arrivals) and 5.3% (32,000 arrivals) of the total, respectively.

Additional data released by the Macau Hotel Association provided a more detailed overview of hotel occupancy in March. Across three-star to five-star hotels, the average occupancy rate reached 89.3 percent, with five-star properties achieving 90.7% occupancy. The average room rate in March for these hotels was MOP1,431.2, while five-star properties surpassed pre-pandemic levels with an average rate of MOP1,634.0.
