Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly landed a role in a French film only months after being slapped with a four-year ban from professional football. The 31-year-old, who was most recently contracted to Juventus, has not made a competitive appearance since September last year.

Pogba's injury-riddled return to Juventus went from bad to worse when he tested positive for abnormal levels of testosterone after a game against Udinese. The four-year ban he was subsequently hit with threatens to keep him out of the game until 2027.

By that point, Pogba's top-level career may effectively be over as he will be well into his mid-thirties. The French World Cup winner has vowed to appeal the decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

But in the meantime, his acting career is seemingly only just getting started as reports indicate that he will play the role of a youth team football coach in a French film titled '4 Zeros'.

The sequel to the 2002 release, '3 Zeros', is set to be released next year. And bystanders who saw Pogba in action during filming in Paris were reportedly 'amazed' by his 'natural' performance. Pogba is no stranger to lights and cameras, having featured in an Adidas 2018 World Cup commercial alongside the likes of David Beckham and Lionel Messi.

An adverse drugs test result turned Pogba's career on its head, leading to a suspension in September before the banned substance was flagged up once again in a back-up sample test.

A statement released by the former Red Devils star read: "I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me. When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.

"As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against."

Having been let go by Sir Alex Ferguson in one of the legendary former Man Utd manager's most infamous transfer mishaps, Pogba returned to Old Trafford four years later in a world-record £89million deal.

Aside from a 16-goal campaign in 2018/19, Pogba broadly disappointed in the Premier League and hoped to rediscover the form that once made him one of the world's best players by making an emotional return to Juventus in 2022.

But the move panned out disastrously, as he spent the majority of his first campaign out injured and managed only 12 appearances before the ban was handed down.
