Coronation Street fans 'expose' Demi's true identity in latest blow for Steve McDonald

Coronation Street's Steve McDonald is set for more heartache as fans speculate about the true identity of newcomer Demi on the ITV soap.

Viewers will remember that Tracy Barlow, Steve's estranged wife, bid farewell to Weatherfield last month. She was seen saying her goodbyes to family members including father Ken Barlow and daughter Amy Barlow before leaving The Rovers and heading off to start a new life in Spain with her lover Tommy Orpington.

This week on the cobbles, Steve has been trying his hand at dating again, but it hasn't been going well. Earlier this week, he was thrilled to get three matches on a dating site and arranged to meet one of them, Carole, at The Rovers.

However, he was taken aback when she turned up with three friends who wanted to check him out.

Things went from bad to worse when he persuaded his married friend Tim Metcalfe to join him because Carole's friend Aurora was interested. But when Tim's wife Sally Metcalfe arrived and angrily took him home, things quickly fell apart, reports the Mirror.

To add insult to injury, Steve was disappointed to learn that Carole didn't find him attractive and had no interest in seeing him again.

On the latest instalment of the cobbles, Steve McDonald seemed to have thrown in the towel on love until a message from Demi sparked new hope. As he geared up for the date, he confided in his daughter Amy that Demi might just be 'the one.

' Their chemistry was undeniable at the Rovers Return, particularly when Demi took a verbal swipe at ex-footballer Tommy O, much to Steve's amusement. The night ended on a high note with plans for another rendezvous.

Yet, the Corrie audience is abuzz with theories of impending doom for Steve's newfound romance. Social media is rife with speculation that Demi could be seeking vengeance against Tommy O, who allegedly left her for Tracy.

Twitter users are piecing together the puzzle, with comments like: "Is Demi Tommy O's ex? #Corrie", and "Tommy O's wife for sure #corrie".

Some even suggest she might be Tommy's former flame, as tweets such as "Is that tommys ex #coronationstreet #corrie" and "Tommy O's wife? #corrie."

Complicating matters further, there's chatter about Tracy Barlow's potential return to wreak havoc just as Steve starts to find happiness again.

This Morning's soap guru Sharon Marshall hinted at such a twist on the ITV show, musing, "I'm wondering... I mean Tracy, that was a bit of a low-key exit for such a major character mid-week, you know?

"Is she going to be coming back? That's what I wonder, anyway!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
