ITV Loose Women's Denise Welch leaves co-star in tears with odd performance

Denise Welch plays recorder through her nose

Loose Women's Denise Welch had her ITV colleague, Cat Deeley, in stitches when she sporadically erupted into a spirited recorder performance on Thursday 2 May, during a conversation with the This Morning presenters.

Host Charlene White was offering Cat and Ben Shephard an insight into what the day's Loose Women episode would cover, and one of the topics was: "Should every child learn to play the recorder? ".

While explaining that this matter was dear to Denise, Charlene also hinted at a planned performance by Denise, a former Coronation Street star, later in the show.

Nonetheless, the discussion was suddenly disrupted by Denise who unveiled a recorder concealed under the desk and began playing some stilted notes.

Despite Charlene's attempts to defer Denise's performance to a more appropriate moment, saying "Not now, suspense! Wait! ", the camera panned to Ben and Cat on the This Morning couch where both were struggling to restrain their mirth.

In between bouts of giggles, Cat diplomely said Denise was "warming up nicely" with her playing, while a pleading Ben urged Denise to "please wait, please wait" until the Loose Women broadcast before embarking on another recorder recital, only fuelling further laughs from Charlene and Cat, reports OK!.

In a display of her quirky side, Denise humorously played several off-key notes on the recorder, even using her nose - a sight that left co-stars Cat and Ben laughing uncontrollably. "There is no end to Denise Welch's talents! " Ben remarked while Cat, in giggles, warned: "Don't let anyone else use that recorder,".

Since stepping into their roles as This Morning co-hosts in March, Cat and Ben have comfortably established themselves. Speaking to OK!

magazine recently, ex-Good Morning Britain host Ben expressed his satisfaction: "I'm loving it. It's brilliant working with Cat, and it's brilliant having a lie in! The team are amazing."

Having previously hosted the US series So You Think You Can Dance? solo for 18 years, Cat has relished returning to a co-presenter role. "I've been hosting solo for the past few years and I've really missed that sense of camaraderie," she conveyed.

Comparing the experience of hosting This Morning to a friendly gathering at home, she added: "Whenever This Morning is on, it's like having your friends over funny, smart, heartfelt, informative and joyful like all the greatest friendships."
