BBC Strictly's 2024 line-up tipped for 'senior royal contestant' as pro drops huge hint

Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington jive at Strictly ball

Strictly Come Dancing pro Nadiya Bychkova has said that a senior member of the royal family is a "huge fan" and would love to take part in the show themselves.

The 34-year-old Ukrainian professional dancer said that Princess Anne, 73, loves the BBC show and she reportedly said that she would get down on the dancefloor herself.

Nadiya, who joined Strictly in 2017, said that she met the Princess at a ballet show, where she expressed her wishes. The dancer said: "I met her at a ballet event. She is a Strictly fan and she wants to go on the show - she told me.

"She did say that. I think she would be good — there's a lot of personality there, isn't there?"

The star added that she would put in a good word for Anne to producers - something which she said professional dancers often do.

Nadiya added the royals are self-confessed fanatics of the BBC dance show. She added that they "watch it all the time".

It isn't the first time it's been reported that the royals love Strictly. Johannes Radebe previously presented Queen Camilla a pair of tap shoes on a visit to Cambridge.

After the exchange, she admitted that she is one of Strictly's "biggest fans". The wife of King Charles said: "We all watch it. I'm one of Strictly's greatest fans."

She added: "I've always wanted to tap dance, and in my dotage perhaps it's something I could take up."

Johannes, who with John Whaite appeared as the first male same-sex couple in the TV dancing competition, said the royal endorsement for the show "makes me happy as an artist".

This year will mark 20 years since Strictly Come Dancing came to TV screens.
