Loose Women viewers react after 'nice chat got awkward' between Denise and Nadia

Christine Lampard presented Loose Women and was joined by panellists Denise Welch, Nadia Sawalha and Robbie William's wife Ayda Field.

The ITV panel was joined by This Morning presenter Dermot O'Leary, who appeared on the programme to speak about his fifth children's book.

But things admittedly got awkward for the presenter, 50, when he suggested Nadia had "thrown the kitchen sink" at Denise when talk turned to singer Taylor Swift.

Speaking about the book's characters, Nadia asked: "What type of bird is it?"

Dermot replied: "It's a swift."

"Now Swift is very popular at the moment," Nadia cheekily jibed. "Taylor's got a new album out, hasn't she Denise?"

The actress replied: "I wasn't aware she had an album out at all. I haven't heard anything about it."

The studio audience erupted into laughter, as Dermot exclaimed: "Why has this really nice chat suddenly got awkward? I'm literally in the middle of it."

Denise commented: "Anyway, I wish her all the best."

A stunned Dermot added: "How did we go from this nice chat and then you absolutely just threw the kitchen sink at her."

The Loose Women panel's light-hearted banter comes after Denise showed support to her son Matty Healy - lead singer of The 1975 - following his whirlwind romance with the Shake It Off hitmaker.

He is believed to have started dating Taylor shortly after her split from actor Joe Alwyn. However, their union was brief and ended after two months.

Viewers took to social media and rushed to comment on the panel's exchange, most notably, Denise's cheeky jab directed at the singer.

@I_knew_Bob tweeted: "#loosewomen Taylor who. Wish her all the best. Of course, you do."
