Jules Hudson addresses future on Escape to the Country after 'burn out' sparked break

Jules Hudson shares BTS of Escape to the Country filming

Escape to the Country star Jules Hudson has confirmed that he is currently back filming for the show after previously revealing he would be taking a three-month hiatus from the programme after becoming "burnt out". The 54-year-old took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video from his return to the popular tea-time property hunting show with his 61,000 followers.

In the clip, he holds his phone aloft and talks directly to the camera. He then addresses the viewers: "Now then it’s our first day back from our seasonal winter break filming for Esacape To The Country.

"I'm in Cornwall and it’s lovely to have the team back together. It’s like a bunch of hibernating animals emerging into a forest clearing and catching up," he joked.

He captioned the post: "It’s great to be back on the road, Escaping to the Country. We have been filming so far in Cornwall and catching up with some old friends!

"If you’d like our help finding your new country life this year, get in touch," he wrote adding details of how people could apply for the programme. Jules had previously explained his reasons for taking a break in a sit-down interview with Lyme Regis and Bridport News.

“Last year, I realised I was quite burnt out and needed a creative and emotional reset," the presenter who also features on Countryfile and Springtime On The Farm said.

"My wife said, 'Why don’t you take some time out and go to the Boat Building Academy?’” he revealed

Admitting he "fell in love" with the place while filming an episode of the popular property show he said he had always wanted to go back but the opportunity hadn't arisen.

“After filming at the academy in 2012 it stuck in my mind, and I always wanted to return. But when you have a family and are working, life just moves on, and you go with it," he said.

However his "reset" gave him the perfect opportunity to undertake the academy's 12-week furniture-making course.

During his studies, he stayed with a local family and completely immersed himself in the work.

“Of course, I miss my family and my wife is at home juggling everything," he told the publication at the time.

"But it was a family discussion, and we are investing in our future. We are a family of makers," he said.

Escape to the Country is on BBC One daily at 3pm. Previous episodes are available on BBC iPlayer.
