Fans of ITV's Vera have said that the next series has been 'ruined' before it even airs.

Brenda Blethyn OBE, is to return to the iconic role of Vera for the 14th and final series of the hit crime drama, with filming set to take place this summer.

However, fans are not only saddened by the 77-year-old actress waving goodbye to the role but because they have also had the show 'ruined' by 'spoilers' leaked online.

Ann Cleeves, the author behind the character of DCI Vera Stanhope, shared that the much-loved character will return in her latest novel, The Dark Wives.
