NCIS' Cote de Pablo tears up as 'doctors freaked out' when she had cervical cancer scare
NCIS’ Cote de Pablo shared an emotional point in her life when “doctors freaked out” when she had a cancer scare.
The Ziva David actress took part in a PSA (Public Service Announcement) for the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention back in 2015 to talk about getting checked for cervical cancer.
In the behind-the-scenes clip, the usually private 44-year-old opened up on her personal life, commenting how she had a “big family” with her mum being one-of-10 and her dad one-of-three.
But the CBS star’s family has experienced a lot of heartbreak, with her explaining: “The pain that our family has gone through with cancer, we’ve lost a couple of people.
“I feel that it’s very important to talk about it and share information that may be able to help others.”

“The doctors freaked out. I felt like it was too late and the results were good.
“I opened up an envelope and I actually read it and it said ‘you’re clear, no cancer.’
“I gave it to my mother and she opened up the envelope and she sobbed.”

“That’s when I realised she had been holding it in. She was trying to be strong for me and I had been oblivious, because I had been having way too much fun and so it really is not just about me.
“It’s about those you love, too.”
Pablo then finished off her PSA by encouraging viewers to ensure that they get checked out for the disease.
“Women, be on top of your health. Stay on top of your health, of your body”, she said.
“Get your Pap test to test for cervical cancer because you’re not just doing it for you, you’re doing it for your loved ones too.”
