Nottingham Forest have been mocked by Premier League rivals Crystal Palace after hitting out at the PGMOL following their 2-0 defeat against Everton. Forest were left furious over a number of decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been left just a point above the relegation zone after losing at Everton. Forest sit on 26 points while 18th-placed Luton have 25.

The Midlands side felt they should have been awarded three penalties during the game. A social media post after the game accused the PGMOL of a conflict of interest by appointing Stuart Attwell as the video assistant referee (VAR), claiming that the official supports Luton.

A remarkable post on X read: “Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.

“NFFC will now consider its options.”

The wording and tone of that post has now been mocked by Palace, who celebrated their 5-2 thumping of West Ham by poking fun at Forest on X. Oliver Glasner’s side, who were 4-0 up after 32 minutes, have moved away from danger and onto 36 points.

A post on Palace’s X account read: “Five extremely good goals - two goals conceded - which we simply have to accept.

“CPFC will now enjoy their Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Express Sport understands that the FA are aware of Forest’s tweet and have launched an investigation. The PGMOL are weighing up whether to make a response of their own. It is yet to be substantiated if Attwell does indeed support Luton.

Forest have a long-standing issue with the PGMOL. In March, the club submitted what was widely reported as a ‘dossier’ of evidence that they had experienced decisions going against them this season. ESPN claimed, though, that only two pieces of evidence were submitted.

Former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg was then appointed to a role at Forest to improve relations between the club and the PGMOL. That does not appear to have eased relations between the referees’ body and the top-flight side.

Forest now face a battle against Premier League relegation. They host Manchester City next weekend and still need to play in-form Chelsea, with trips to relegation rivals Sheffield United and Burnley making up their remaining four matches.
