Ben White was able to see the funny side of taunts sent his way by Wolves supporters during Arsenal's Saturday night win. White starred for Arsenal as they returned to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory at Molineux, heaping the pressure on fellow title challengers Manchester City and Liverpool.

White played the full 90 minutes for Arsenal, but the England international came under fire from the Wolves supporters, who aimed jibes his way. During the second half, the home crowd could be heard chanting: “Ben White, your fake tan is sh**e." The defender was at least able to laugh the taunts off, as the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion star turned to the crowd and applauded their efforts.

The Gunners had entered Saturday’s clash on the back of three matches without a win, with last weekend’s defeat to Aston Villa sandwiched between two disappointing showings against Bayern Munich. Despite their wobbly form, Arsenal kept their cool in the West Midlands and secured a hard-fought triumph.

A wonder goal from Leandro Trossard initially broke the deadlock between the two sides, with the Belgian netting from long-range late in the first half, before Martin Odegaard stroked home a second in added time. Arsenal’s lead didn’t come under threat much in the second period, but goalkeeper David Raya had been forced into a stellar save earlier in the first half.

The on-loan Brentford man tipped a rasping Joao Gomes strike onto the crossbar, ensuring the scores stayed level at a crucial time in the game. Raya remained unbeaten throughout the contest, picking up his 13th clean sheet of the campaign, taking him to within one shutout of the Golden Glove.

Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta praised Raya and his Arsenal team-mate’s resilience to see the win over the line. Arteta said: “I’m really happy. Obviously, the game tests you.
