Tourist prices rise 4.68% yearly but drop from last quarter

The tourist price index for the first quarter of 2024 rose 4.68% from the same period last year due to higher hotel rates and clothing prices, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DESC).  Clothing and footwear prices jumped 9.17% while accommodation grew 8.35% and other goods 6.54%. Entertainment dropped 15.29%. When compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, the TPI for the first quarter of 2024 witnessed a decrease of 3.85%. Notably, the price indices of Entertainment & Cultural Activities and Accommodation experienced the most substantial drops, with decreases of 15.98% and 11.98% respectively.
