Lorraine Kelly has thanked Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh for helming her ITV talk show during her scheduled leave. The Scottish star also announced when fans could expect her to return to the program.

Much like regular This Morning presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, 64-year-old Lorraine has been absent from ITV during the Easter break. Christine, 45, and Ranvir, 46, stepped in instead to entertain a multitude of guests - including Stephen Mulhern and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’s Adele Roberts.

On Friday (April 12), Lorraine took to social media to thank the pair for their fortnight of hard work before revealing she would be back broadcasting next week. She wrote to her 749,8000 X followers: “Thank you @clbleakley and @ranvir01 and my top team. See you Monday xxxx.”

The mum-of-one regularly takes leave during the school holidays, despite her pregnant daughter being 29 years old. As per a social media page which monitors the presenter’s appearances, she has successfully hosted the titular show for 48 episodes out of a possible 74 this year.

The account also documents that Christine has manned the magazine programme for 16 episodes while Ranvir has presented nine instalments in 2024. Louise Minchin has acted as host on one occasion this year.

Following Lorraine’s recent absence, fans have been quick to debate whether the programme could undergo a possible name change.

“I love this. So funny. Calls out media facades,” typed one viewer. “I have nothing against Lorraine but calling the show her name when it’s just a magazine show is huge ego.”

A second commented: “Christine Lampard should be given the show full time. Because she has class; plain and very pretty. Herself and husband Frank could; be the new Richard and Judy. Very Interesting would; be a good idea. Hope it happens.” (sic)

However, many others have rushed to defend Lorraine and have queried why people are “bothered” about her absences.

“[Lorraine's] kids have had some good quality time with their wee Mummy this Easter,” said one X user.

A second said: “Give her a break it’s hard work now she’s going to be a Granny. Not only will she need time off for wee Rosie, but her baby as well. It’s a hard life, bless her.”

Another queried: “Are people not entitled to holidays? Why does it bother you so much? Unless of course you’re paying her wages, are you?”

Earlier this month, Lorraine’s daughter Rosie Smith announced that she was set to become a first-time mother.

Breaking her silence on her daughter’s pregnancy, the presenter told her 424,000 Instagram followers: “The most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family.

“Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It's the best news ever".

Following the reveal, Christine spoke out about how Lorraine would be “beside herself” with excitement before adding that Rosie would “be on cloud nine”.

The Glaswegian shares her daughter Rosie with husband Steve Smith, whom she wed in 1992.

The pair met when Steve was working as a cameraman on one of Lorraine's early shows, and the TV host knew instantly that he was "the one".
