It’s not even a year since Wrexham were confirmed as National League champions and the Reds have already been promoted again, this time up to League One for the first time in almost 20 years.

For many Wrexham supporters, it’s back where they believe they belong, after ownership problems and financial troubles led to the club’s most recent demise. Now under the stewardship of Hollywood duo Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham have rocketed up the football pyramid, with supporters thankful to their owners’ generosity.

One fan took to X to share his appreciation, with @NeilJamesNige posting: "Literally back to where we were robbed of! @VancityReynolds and @RMcElhenney the town are forever in your debt… Absolutely gutted my dad can’t be here to witness this after the miles we put in over the years.”

A message that clearly struck a chord with Reynolds, the Wrexham co-owner quote replied with a touching tribute of his own. The Canadian said: “Neil, your dad knew many years ago what Rob and I - and the rest of the world - are only recently discovering. Wrexham is indeed magic. We are in HIS debt and many thousands of supporters like him.”

It’s been a long and at times painful journey back to the third tier of English football for Wrexham, as the Racecourse Ground outfit had looked as if they could go out of business at one point. That’s all changed now, with Wrexham set to be facing off against the likes of Wigan Athletic, Reading and Charlton Athletic in League One next season.

Phil Parkinson has guided Wrexham to back-to-back promotions. (Image: Getty)

But manager Phil Parkinson doesn’t believe the job is done, with ‘more chapters’ still to be written. Speaking after his side secured a second promotion in as many seasons, Parkinson said: “Last year when we got promotion I felt there were a lot more chapters to be written, I firmly believe that's still [the case] now.

“Rob rang up - I don't think he was expecting me to answer - so I've had a great chat with him. Obviously him and Ryan would have loved to have been here today. They deserve a lot of credit obviously because the support they've given myself and all the staff and the backing they give all the players as well.”

He continued: "They deserve this and I'm sure they will celebrate wherever they are in the US. Owning a football club is tough. It's not an easy job and you've got to savour these promotions. We're building a structure underneath and I think that's really important with the academy. I think that's very important for the future of the club and the owners obviously recognise that and we had to get back in the league to do that.”
