Tiger Woods ‘knocked a fan out’ with a powerful shot out of the trees during the second round at the 2024 Masters. Woods sent a wayward strike flying into the crowd, on what turned out to be an eventful day for the 15-time major winner.

The incident occurred on day two of the meet at Augusta National, when one of Woods’ early shots sailed head-first into a group of spectators. Woods shouted “fore” after his mishit shot - a universal warning that a ball is heading in the unintended direction.

The ball appeared to hit one of the patrons, with the on-looker falling to the floor. A concerned Woods ventured towards the area of the course where his ball had landed, and much to the relief of all involved, there were no serious injuries.

It didn’t seem to impact Woods’ performance, with the legendary golfer rolling back the years on a record-breaking day at Augusta. Woods became the first-ever player to make 24 consecutive cuts at the Masters after the 48-year-old finished round two just one over par.

Having also finished round one with +1 next to his name, Woods maintained his cool during a wind-swept second-round outing on the famous course to keep his head above water and avoid the cut. With an equal split of birdies and bogies in round two, Woods finished up tied 24th after 36 holes.

Elsewhere on the second day of action, there had been a genuine fear that reigning champion Jon Rahm would miss the cut. A double bogey on the 14th left the Spaniard six over par with four holes left, but back-to-back birdies brought his score to four over, before eventually finishing with a +5 tally.

That proved to be enough - only just - to avoid the cut, but there was no such luck for Viktor Hovland. The world No.6 endured a torrid second round, with the Dane ending up eight over par by the close of play.

At the opposite end of the leaderboard, it was a tale of three Americans after the first 36 holes, with Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler, and Max Homa all level on six under par. But it’s the 2022 Masters winner and world No.1 Scheffler who is expected to run away with the competition in the second half of the tournament, with the 27-year-old tipped to pick up a second green jacket by Sunday evening.
